term 3

Hi,

Through out term 3 we have completed lots of maths including algebra, pi and many more subjects. We have also done lots of reading tasks including short stories where I have continued to expand my knowledge of how to correctly complete them. this term we also held cross country overall I came 36th I tried my hardest and ran to the best of my ability. We spent many weeks training for cross country by going around around the school and sherwyn park going around both of those are 1.5 kilometers my average is about 3 kilometers which is two laps. this term we also had speeches I was confident with my speech but I think I should have knew my content better, no one in our class made it into the finals. We also had aims this term but I was not involved in it. Overall this term has been really awesome and  really enjoyed it.

Week 6 Term 2.

This week on Wednesday the school held the winter games I participated in basketball. For our first game we played Mangapiko we were not playing to our best abilities as were they, We blocked and intercepted there passes and shots to keep up with them. For our next game we played Waikato and beat them by quite a lot. We beat them because they were quite clumsy with the ball and needed to work on their shooting. We once again did not play to our best abilities But were able to take out the win because we worked together and passed round the ball lots. For our last game we played our best but were unable to take the win against Waipa because they had more experienced players in there team and played as a team very well. We were unable to score very many points because they had very tall players in there team and were easily able to block our shoots and intercept our passes. Overall our house came second and are still coming second overall. This week I got another band it is my never give up band and only need about 15 more signatures till my bronze badge. This week in science We did lots more on gravity and physics also what makes a ball role. We learned about down force and if You include more forces you are able to move and stop the object If it is in motion. Adding another force is also able to start an object moving. We also learned that if the object is bigger in mass it takes more force to start and stop the object.

week 5 term 2

This week we had Mr MC Cabe for the first two days and we did a lot of discussing about zeca virus and how they are putting our athletes at risk by sending them to the Rio 2016 Olympics because sending them there is giving them a lot of a higher chance of spreading it around the world when they return home. we also talked about how the fish in the sea are not a sustainable food source because people are over fishing and being greedy also taking more than they need. They also have specific licences and when fish they are not aloud die in the trap and they bring it up on the boat they through the dead fish they are legally not aloud to have on board there ship. we also learned that the polar bears are probably going to be extinct within 20 years because of the melting of the polar ice caps because polar bears need ice to live on and are also needed in the ocean near to the main ice burgs so that if they are swimming they are able to take a break on the ice if not they will drown.
This week a few people got there silver badge these people were Arden, cheng-yu, Caitlin, rowan and hadlee, these are the first few people of the year to receive these badges I am getting closer to receiving my bronze badge and only need 16 more signatures across a variety of bands. It was also a short week because on Friday we had teacher only day and I also finished my reading and writing and also my maths. I am proud of my self for finishing my work on time. I think I also need to work on my science fair more because I have only done my introduction, aim, hypothesis, research and still need to finish the rest.

week 4 term 2

This week was really great and enjoyable and I learned lots. This week I continued with my writing and am nearly finished it, I have learned lots of information about pandas. In science this week we learned about how Isaac newton said everything was and object and if it was still it was at rest and if it was moving it was in motion. To experiment with this we had to make a marble track that had to last for on average 20 seconds me and Josh worked together but did not make that much progress because we used most of our time discussing how we were going to tackle the job. I finally earned my first band and it is my respect band I only need about 20 more signatures to earn my bronze badge. This Friday was supposed to be winter sports I was supposed to be playing basketball but was postponed until next Thursday. For reading I have just started to write my summary and still need to write my characterization. I am confident I will get most of my work finished because for Monday and Tuesday we will be having Mr Mc Cabe and a relieve teacher and are able to select what we want to do and finish.

week 3 term 2

This week was quite short but I still learned a lot.  During the week we had people from other schools attend our school for a few days because of band camp, because I do not play an instrument I was selected to take photos. Also this week I nearly completed my note taking and learned lots about pandas that I did not all ready know. We had a choice of which animal to pick and I decided to do the giant panda because I was quite interested in them but did not know much about them. We did a decimal test and I did not do my best and really need to improve on my decimals but am slowly getting better we are continuing this next week. In maths we did work on decimals and how to round them down to 1 number instead of 2. We continued with our reading task I am in group 2 and my storey is about a women called Mrs flowers and her meeting with marguette Johnson I am enjoying this task and learned a lot on how to put characters into categories. We also had our first game of basketball on Monday and we won and am really looking forward to next weeks and new opportunities.

week 2

This week was really awesome because we did heaps of awesome activities and work. One of the activities was lacrosse and we learned heaps of skills if we were ever to play lacrosse. At the end of the year they are having a team and I would rally love to play for my age group. Some of the skills we learned were to scoop up the ball correctly, throw the ball back and fourth, throw the ball far, tricks to evade the opposition and towards the end we played a small game. I really enjoyed lacrosse because it was something knew that I have ever tried and was a really enjoyable activity. This week we continued with science fair and I have decided that my question is going to be what area of the house has the least affect for growing mould on bread. I have done this because I was curious to see how long the life span of a single piece of bread and to see were the most effective place is to store  bread. We also focused on compass bearings witch I learned lots about and am confident in answering questions. we also did a geometry test witch was to see what group we would be put in.

WEEK 1 TERM TWO

This week was really awesome meeting up with all of my friends again and being back in school. This week we began to talk about science fair and I am thinking about what liquid is most effective for cleaning pennies. I am thinking about doing this because I reckon it would be a really interesting topic and I want to see what liquid makes pennies the shiniest. We also finished editing our writing and I learnt a lot more about editing and am a lot more confident about editing my work pieces and making work better than it was before. During the week we also focused on math and I learnt a lot more about angles and then the day after that we did more about angles which was just a recap for me and many other people that understated how to do it. I am looking forward to next week because we are doing lacrosse and los more sports and learning. I have also joined the Monday night basketball team and am really looking forward to competing against other teams and am really going to enjoy it.

week 8 and 9

 These few weeks have been really fun and I enjoyed all of the things we did including our first wood work session and school sining. I really enjoyed wood work because I enjoy all the things we did including using all of the machines like the belt sander, filer and all the other tools we got to use. I really I this stuff because I enjoy crafting things and for this term of wood work we are making trucks. So far we have completed the outside part of were the driver sits and  filed and belt sanded it. The next thing I need to complete is definitely the grill because this is the thing Mr graham marks our truck on. This has been really enjoyable so far and am looking forward to the next session. The past week I really struggled with my algorithms and had to take quite a lot of time to work and practise these but eventually I learned to understand how to complete these but am proud of myself for giving it ago and learnt a lot about completing these correctly and am confident about answering these questions. I am looking forward to the next few weeks especially camp because it will be a new experience and am looking forward to getting to know my class mates better and trying new experiences.

week 7

This week I really enjoyed all the things we did and am really looking forward to next week and the activities in the near future like camp Were we are staying at narrows park and I am really looking forward to doing that. This week we have started our brain inquiry and I am really enjoying that so far, Emily, Cheng Yu, Rowan, Jake Sophie and I are in a group and are so far really enjoying all of the information we have learned and Cheng Yu's big sister is a big help because she is studying to be a doctor and has helped our group out a lot with information we had no idea about. We also had our last session of soft materials which I really enjoyed and am looking forward to hard materials. In our last session of soft materials I completed my bag witch turned out amazing and am very proud of myself for completing it on time and also sad to leave but I am very excited for hard materials. I am looking forward to this because I really enjoy using machines and also hand crafting amazing things. The first thing we are making is a big truck. Overall I really enjoyed this week and am looking forward to the next.

Week 6

This week has been awesome I have really enjoyed it in all of they activities we did including jump jam which is one of my favourite activities because you are energetic and have an awesome time following awesome moves and have a fun time dancing and moving with your friends. you also use lots of energy which I really enjoy. This week we also did water safety and boat safety were we learned to always were  life jacket on a boat and also when we are fishing on rocks. Reasons for this are if a rouge wave comes in we can keep our head above water. we also learned how to throw out a safety rope for people that are struggling to swim can then be pull  back in. Next we learned how to stay safe and hopefully survive and if we are stuck in the ocean we are able to keep as much warmth as possible by forming a small ball of people and also good techniques to work as a team to move at a quick pace but not use all of your energy at once. At Tec arts I learned how to sow intricate shapes onto material and am nearly finished completing my bag and it will be ready hopefully by tomorrow when we have our next session of Tec arts. Overall I really enjoyed this week and am looking forward to the next.

week 5

This week I really enjoyed all the activities I participated in including swimming sports, were I tried my hardest to place the best I could in my own standard our house Puniu did especially well in swimming sports and placed first overall. I learned in class a lot about maths including correctly how to estimate multiples, divided byes, and takeaways this encouraged me to challenge myself in the work I complete and the tasks that I participate in. I had a high standard this week for my work and learnt a lot about sowing maths and writing including fan boys and awwwubiss words (might not be spelt write) and overall really enjoyed myself.

week 4 :]

last week I was really excited about and I really enjoyed everything we had done and competed. We have began to complete our pillows which is such an amazing place to learn in the fabric room. I learnt how to correctly sow a straight line on a sowing machine and tilt it and move it to go around a corner tidily and also back stich were you finish and start. I enjoyed all the tests we did because they were a challenge and I learnt lots about how far I can push myself in tests and that I need to take my time in the questions that I answer.

week 3

week 3 has been a really amazing week sadly I was really sick and missed all of week 2.  I learned how to write and mark fabric at Tec arts were we planed and designed our pillows we also completed our pencil cases. this week I completed my vision board but I still need to laminate it, my board  represents what I would like to complete in the next 2 years and my future as an adult. This week we also did a lot of tests including the vocabulary test witch I believe I did quite well in I also got good results in the other tests I participated in. I am looking forward to week 4 because we have swimming heats and also I will hopefully complete my pillow witch would be awesome.

first school week :)

This week has been awesome and intermediate seems really cool i'm really looking forward to tec and all the activities the intermediate has to offer. I've made heaps of knew friends and i'm really looking forward to the next week room 3 is so much fun and we have an awesome teacher.There are so many cool places to play or hang out with your friends. i think this year will be awesome .
