Term 4 goals

My Term four goals consists of many different things over many different aspects of learning. One of my goals is to do well in my exit tests, to do this I am going to have to focus on my learning and stay on task. Another one of my goals is to consistently stay on task while learning and not get distracted by others or myself. I would also like to further my basketball skills in and out of school, to do this I am going to need to keep practicing, Take part in as much basketball as I can, and take every option I get. This week we have Nikki teaching us in life ed where she teaches us valuable lessons and to delay our decision. Overall I am really looking forward to the rest of this school year and my last term at TAI and all of the fun activities that are to come.

Week 4 Term 3

Last week we had speeches and some of them were really good but I hurt my knee and didn't get to listen to all of them. Last week I also meet my Deans Mrs topless and Mr. Barnfield They seem really cool and I am really looking forward to my time at college. I have chosen my 4 subjects which are wood, metal, design, and outdoor education along side the subjects that are compulsory. We also had our math test and I believe I did pretty good in it. Last week was pretty fun for the most part and I am looking forward to the weeks to come. 

Week 3 Term 3

Over the past week, we continued with math. In math, we are doing geometry. While doing geometry we learn about area, perimeter, volume, pi, and also how to identify different shapes. In English, we began our short story analysis we have to do three aspects of an analysis and I am doing plot, setting, and point of view. On Wednesday we had a first aid course where we learned skills that are able to save someone's life. I really enjoyed this course and we all received a small first aid kit. Overall this week was pretty good.

Week 9 Term 2

Over the last week, I continued writing my book review, my inquiry task and finished my maths. My inquiry task is about three survivors of the Holocaust and I tell their story about how they survived and where there from ect. I have learned lots about the Holocaust and hope that something like that never happens again. In maths, I just finished percentages. In percentages, I learned lots and am pretty confident using them. Also over the last week, we had lots of room 14 people in our class because of production.  

Week 8 Term 2

Over the last week, we did many things like maths, English, and we also had our cafe last week. In maths, we finished ratio and fractions and we are now doing percentages. In English, we did our short story task where we had to pick a character and write down that persons character traits. In food tech, we had our healthy cafe. at our cafe, we had to make, cook, and serve our food to our parents all under and hour. Doing this activity was a hard task but I really enjoyed it and hope everyone enjoyed the food. Last week I learned heaps of new things and am really looking forward to the last few weeks of this term.

week 6 term 2

Last week we did many things including maths and English. During maths time I learned how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators and also to add and subtract mixed numbers. I am now very confident in doing both of these tasks. In English, we learned about apostrophes and when and where to put one. I am now pretty confident when using apostrophes. In food tech, I learned what I am going to make for my cafe and believe it is going to go well. during basketball last week I figured out I made the AIMS basketball team, this has been one of my goals for the year and I am very proud of myself for making the team. Overall the past week has been really fun and I am looking forward to the rest of the year.

Week 3 Term 2

over the previous week, we continued doing algebra and I have completed many tasks and learned heaps such as being able to solve equations and finding the unknown. Last week we began food tech and in the first lesson the made bread but I was sick that day and on Friday during the second lesson I made a pizza learning how to make a pizza base with yeast included in it and I also learned that yeast can die if the temperature is too hot or too cold it has to be just right. Overall in food, my pizza turned out pretty good and was really delicious. The previous week we began writing our poems about the holocaust and all of the horrific things that occurred throughout that time period. While writing this poem we have to use strong vocabulary and make sure that we are not writing sentences we write in short phrases. Overall the last week has been fun and I am looking forward to the weeks to come.

Week 1 and goals for term 2

Over the next term, I hope to accomplish many things in and out of class. Out of class, I hope to be picked for AIMS basketball and carry on with basketball and improve my skills. In and during class I hope to become more focused and strive to complete all of my work on time and work independently. These are a few of my goals that I hope to accomplish over the term to come. In week one of term 2, we began algebra which I find quite difficult but enjoy because it is a challenge and makes me think hard. In the last week, we did pubertal change where we learned about the changes you make as you become an adult. In science we created bath bombs while we were doing this we learned about the reactions that happen when some chemicals meet and combine. In English, we did another noun test to improve our skills of identifying nouns and different types of nouns such as abstract nouns, proper nouns, common nouns and concrete nouns after completing these tasks I a  now confident about identifying nouns. Overall week one was good and I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the following weeks to come.

Term 1 reflection

Throughout this term, we have completed many tasks, done lots of test and most of all improved our skills. The previous term has been fun and enjoyable and I have learned a lot. The past term in maths we have completed number which consists of algorithms, powers, adding, subtracting and many other activities we have learned. During our time doing mathematics, I learned lots more than I previously knew and hope to continue to learn lots over the following term. In reading, I learned lots of new skills and am confident I can use them correctly. I am also continuing to read a wider variety of books and authors and giving new genres ago and am enjoying my time trying something new. In writing, I have learned lots of commas, punctuation, capital letters and that I need to seek excellence and strive for greatness in everything that I do and not be too easily satisfied with my work and mainly push myself. Out of class, I have learned lots of new skills in basketball, softball, and many other new sports. I am enjoying participating in lots of outdoor activities and hope to pursue all of the sports I enjoy. Overall I have accomplished many of my goals and am really proud of myself. This term has been great and I am looking forward to the terms to come.

Week 8 Term 1 CAMP!

On Sunday morning we left for camp. Throughout camp, we did many activities and experienced lots of new things. During the first day, we went to Zealandia. We saw many rare species of birds that were interesting, and we learned a lot about different birds like the Kaka, Tui, Fantail, and many other species of birds. We visited Weta Workshop and Parliament on one day. At Weta Workshop I learned many new things about movies, acting and what happens behind the camera at Weta Workshop. While we were at Parliament I learned about how laws are made and what happens in parliament. We also visited the Wellington Zoo and went snorkeling. At the Wellington Zoo, we saw many animals and creatures they were all very interesting and different. While we were snorkeling I saw many fish and other life that live in the ocean like a Blue Moki and Paua the size of my head, and many more sea creatures. Overall camp was a great experience I learned so much and I enjoyed it heaps, it was great.

Week 6/7 Term 1

This week we have done many things. In maths I have learned to add and subtract integers And also multiply and divide them I have learned many new skills while doing this work and am proud of the progress I have made in these subjects. In English I am writing my "I am" poem. this poem is about me and all of my qualities and what I believe and what I am. In English we also did lots of tasks about commas, common nouns and pronouns which I am now confident in myself to do and complete to a high standard and get most of them correct while writing. In tech arts this week I Completed my jersey to a high standard and I am very proud of myself and what I have achieved during my time at soft materials. I am happy with how my jersey turned out and the quality of it. I have learned many new techniques In sewing that I hope to use in other aspects of life. Overall this week has been good I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the weeks to come.

Week 5 Term 1

Hi,

This week I have continued writing my explanation about Mt Everest I have learnt many facts about Mt Everest like what year Edmund Hillary summitted on Mt Everest, who his climbing buddy was and many more facts. In tech arts I continued making my jersey and am close to completing. In the last session I made my hoodie sewed it and all I need to do is attach that and my sleeves and sew the side seems then it is complete. This week in maths I have learned about Prime factors, highest common factor and lowest common multiples. To find the lowest common multiple you keep multiplying the number with both numbers given until you find a number they both have in common, it has to be the Lowest common multiple. Overall I enjoyed this week and I am looking forward to the weeks to come.  

Week 4 Term 1

Hi,
This week we continued doing our tests and have completed most of them, but we have a few more to do. On Monday we learned who had gotten the position of class Councillor and also who has managed to acquire the position of house captain. This week I learned to round numbers to a significant figure in maths and I also re learned place value. In tech arts this week I learned to make a seam correctly knowing this i can now make sure all of my cut out fabric edges are not messy and are to a high standard. I also learned to sew shoulder seems together correctly so they are straight. have leaned many new techniques to use during sowing and I am happy with my progress in making my jersey. I learned a lot about the history of Mt Everest like when Edmund Hillary and his partner arrived at the summit of Mt Everest, where it is located and many other facts. overall I have enjoyed this week thoroughly and am looking forward to the next week.

Week 3 Term 1

During the past week was the danish rounders competition. It was a difficult competition but we managed to make it into the finals that take place today we are hoping to win but its going to be difficult. we are going to have to play smart and try our hardest to take the win. We are versing room 13. During danish rounders I have learned many new skills like the rules, techniques for hitting the ball etc. During class time I have took many tests and figured out where I am academically in a few subjects, tests will continue throughout this week. During tech arts this week I have learned to sew on a machine again, how to thread a sewing machine and many techniques for cutting material out. This past week we also learned softball techniques And I learned that anyone can get someone out, and if you angle your feet into a different direction you are able to hit it in a different direction.  

week 1/2 Term 1

The first few weeks have been interesting and very fun I enjoyed meeting all of the year 7's in our class and they all seem really cool. We are beginning to do our start of year tests so that at the end of the year we can revise and see how much we have improved since the beginning of the year. I am looking forward to taking part in all the activities provided including sports, wims, hopefully sports camp and i'm hoping to get into aims. settling back into class was fun, but having a holiday and not doing work everyday has made me forget some of my skills and techniques for maths, reading and writing. I hope to regain these skills over the following terms and improve in everything I do. In tech we have began to make our jerseys and i have learnt most of the international shipping signs. so far we have planned our jersey and made the design cut outs. I have really enjoyed the first few weeks at school and am looking forward to the rest of the year.
